When everything is covered in a deep blanket of snow, winter sports enthusiasts strap on their gear, be it alpine skis, snowboards or cross-country skis, right on the hotel doorstep. This is only possible in Garmisch-Partenkirchen here at our hotel! The new Hausberg cable car built in 2006 with its 66 8-person gondolas is just a ski’s length away and guarantees quick access to the 40 kilometres of slopes included in the “Garmisch-Classic” ski area with the Hausberg, Kreuzeck and Alpspitze. Ski schools and ski hire are located at the bottom station.
Snow-making facilities make it possible to ski down into the valley, and therefore up to the hotel terrace, until well into spring. Fans of Nordic winter sports have it just as easy: they can start the network of trails prepared for classic and skater cross-country skiing just a few metres away from the hotel and glide to the Olympic ski stadium or as far as Hammersbach and Grainau.
Tobogganists also really get their money’s worth on the Hausberg: an approximately four-kilometre long run takes fans of fast runners down to the valley over a distance of 600 metres elevation gain. The prepared hiking trail is floodlit from 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays inviting you to enjoy the great atmosphere of night tobogganing. The cable car runs until 8 p.m. Also very nearby: the Olympic ice sports centre with ice skating and curling as well as regular sports events.
